Sewing 101 & Memories

After a long day yesterday, I decided that I needed something to do today. Last night around 7pm, I was looking on the internet for basic sewing tools I should have and after reseaching, I decided to head to JoAnn's at 8pm. I feel like everyone knows when you are a "newbie" because I'm wondering around looking at all the sewing essentials and look completely lost...but I had my list: pins, thread, scissors, marking devices, seam ripper, machine needles and bobbins. I came home with this...



I also picked up The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing book...let's hope it helps me!



I started reading it last night to help me with some basics and now I know what all the information is on the back of pattern envelopes. So if I never finish the project I'm about to start, at least I know what the info on the back of pattern means :)

Around 11pm last night, I looked at Don and said, "Do you remember how to sew a pillow?" Now, you are probably thinking why did I ask him...well...the last official time I remember sewing is my senior year when Don and I were Home Ec partners. Yep, that's where our love story started. We were "Just Friends" (and both were dating other people) when we realized our friendship was turning into something else. So during our love story, we had to sew a pillow and a shirt. All I remember about the class is pinning the fabric and giving it to Don to sew on the machine (I think I was more into him than the sewing machine) :) We passed the class and now 17 years later we're discussing just how horrible our sewing abilities were. So keep your fingers crossed that I will make sense of this stuff I just purchased!
