Mental Day

We all know that at work I have to endure smelling like I walked out of a bar and spending 9 long hours with my boss everyday (yep, 8 hours of work and 1 hour lunches).  You see, "the boss" is extremely needy - he can't use a computer, eat alone or stay awake for an 8 hour day.  I pretty much do all the work for both us - oh wait, the other girl that worked in our office when I first started got fired, so I'm still doing her work too.

Anyways, over the last week, I have been extremely irritated by "the boss" and very moody with him because there comes a time when he just wears on me.  It all started last Monday when he need to get new lenses for his glasses - he wanted them quick (he has no patience).  He pulled out the Yellow Pages and found an eye doctor that says "Get your lenses in as little as 1 hour."  Of course, the eye doctor he found was my eye doctor on W. Broad Street (keep in mind, we work in Dublin), so I mentioned to him (on Monday), you should probably call to make sure they can do what you need before we drive down there.  Fast forward to Tuesday, I said, "Did you call the eye doctor to find out if they can do your lenses?"  "No, not yet," he said.  Fast forward to Wednesday, he left at 10:30am to go get his hair cut, got back at 11:30 came inside and got me so we could go to lunch.  Of course, we drove to W. Broad Street, had lunch at Roosters and then around 12:45 headed over to the eye doctor's.  We walk in...

Receptionist: How can I help you?
My Boss: Huh? (Did I mention he always says that because he can't hear?)
Receptionist: How can I help you?
My Boss: I need to get lenses for my glasses.
Receptionist:  I'm sorry, our lab is only open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
My Boss: Huh?
Receptionist: I'm sorry, our lab is only open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

About this time, I'm thinking to myself OMG, he is going to flip out and this is my doctor's office.  He turns around and we leave.  As we are walking to the car, he says, "Why aren't you saying anything?"  I told him that he didn't want to know what I was thinking (I TOLD YOU SO)!

We get back to the office around 1:30pm.  He waits 20 minutes and leaves again to find another office (in Dublin) and doesn't return until around 3:30pm.  Waits 45 minutes and then leaves again to pick up his lenses.  So what did he do all day on Wednesday?  ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

On Thursday and Friday, we barely spoke, I was extremely irritated with him and it was obvious because he was making all kinds of remarks to me.

So, this brings me to Monday, April 26.  I'm still annoyed with him, so I'm still kind of quiet.  Around 4pm, I go into his office for him to sign all the paperwork that I did for that day.  He says, "Oh, you mean you finally started to work around here?"  OMG, he did not just say that...I do ALL THE WORK!

Tuesday - April 27 - I NEEDED A MENTAL DAY!  A MUCH NEEDED MENTAL DAY.  I called in sick and I must say it was the most relaxing day I have had in a long time.  I didn't even think about work.

To all my friends, please pray that he will retire soon and I can live a long happy work life without him.  You just don't know how badly I would like to have lunch on my own terms and not smell like smoke every day.
