This may be boring for anyone who reads this, but I want to make sure I remember some things about Mason this past summer.
Mason started the summer obviously playing with his friends. If you ask Mason what his favorite thing is and I guarantee it he will say his friends. He spent a lot of time at Barbs this summer too, which of course he made friends. The good thing about Mason is that no matter where he is he can make a friend anywhere...there was this cute little girl (Katie) a couple of houses down from Barb's that he would play with and she had a cousin that would come and play too (his name is Chris). Mason also played baseball this summer (through June) - the season wasn't very fun because he had a horrible coach and they sucked.
Most of July he was either with my Dad or at Barbs. I think the kids spent a total of 3 full weeks at home this summer, which surprised me because as they get older I figured they would want to stay home more. We went to Disney on August 9-14 and since we have returned Mason wanted to immediately go to Barbs for a few days, came home for a few and then went back to Barbs. On Thursday (8/20), I picked up the kids and brought them home - Don and Zach had baseball practice, Mason's friends were at football practice so Mason and I were home alone. He played video games for a little while I was down in my scrap room. Then I could tell Mason wanted some attention from me, so we went outside and sat on the step while we watched Rylie play. I took this opportunity to talk to Mason and as always, he has the best answers:
1. What was your favorite part about summer? Disney
2. What do you think your favorite thing will be about fourth grade? All the games we'll play.
Then this was our conversation:
Me: "Mason, I can't believe you are going to be in fourth grade...just think next year you'll be in fifth grade and you'll rule the school."
Mason: "I think you might have some trouble with me in fifth grade."
Me: "Why would you say that? You are always so good, I doubt you'll be any different."
Mason: "Yea, your probably right." (I thinking, thank god...Zach is already hard to deal with).
Me: "Mason, I wish you were still little, I miss you being so small."
Mason: "I'd go back to Kindergarten, so I would only have to go to school half a day." (Again, I'm thinking, this kid only thinks about playing).
Afterwards, Mason and I come inside and play Wii together. Then, Friday, Saturday and Sunday came and I haven't seen Mason all weekend. He has been at the neighbors all weekend (and even went shopping with them and he hates shopping).
I miss him! But I know, he is having a lot of fun before he goes to school on Tuesday.
